31 Days: Your Wetsuit

Writing an ocean or beach related post bums me out this week. I had to recently get minor right shoulder surgery on a little bit of my skin. It is nothing major but very suckworthy nonetheless. So here I am watching the Bachelor (watched it for the first time last week, it's as draining as I thought it would be) debating between my prescriptions or wine (never both!). Wine won and I am writing to you now. Wine soothes the soul and the body -- so basically I win. Ah, and the reason I am bummed out is that I have to stay out of the water until my incisions heal up. Just as I was getting into the swing of things!

my one and only.
So this is a style AND surfing blog, right? Or did I forget? This next item isn't too stylish but it is the most useful AND used item of my entire wardrobe... My wetsuit.

My current wetsuit is from XCEL, a wetsuit brand that I am currently extremely loyal to and in love with (anyone want to test my love?). This is also a size 12 but for my next suit I have to size down because  I have lost some weight (!!!). I'm loyal to XCEL because I just really love the quality of their wetsuits. The seams on their suits are always very well sealed and they keep their neoprene elasticity well. I also love how their motif and logo designs are very unisex. I love being a woman as much as the next girl and definitely embrace my feminine side... but nothing turns me off in design than overdone flower motifs all over girls surf apparel (we need something fresh! Let's introduce new colors, hell-loooo!).

My suit is a 3/2 and really I should get another for all seasons (I will get a spring suit and rash guard eventually) but this is doing me well for now! It has the offset zipper which I really do like. It provides more insulation as well as a more snug fit overall. I only got rid of my last XCEL because it was stolen from my porch. I was pretty bummed and promptly drove an hour to my favorite surf shop in Newport Beach to buy another!
